| “NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION”, how
often we have heard those words. Harold Warp, founder of the
Harold Warp Pioneer Village in Minden, Nebraska embraced
just such a philosophy. Born and raised on a homestead south
of Minden, Nebraska, he grew up experiencing many new and
exciting inventions arriving at their farm home, many that we
take for granted today. His curious mind allowed him to create
new, exciting things himself. As a young man he patented his first
product “Flex-o-Glass” and continued to develop new products
throughout his life.
His interest turned to preserving those inventions that made
America great. The Harold Warp Pioneer Village is dedicated
to that purpose. It has been widely recognized as a museum of
history and progress. Displays of technological advances from
hand carts to Corvettes, and oil lamps to halogen light bulbs are
displayed in their order of development throughout the complex.
This collection of over 50,000 items is the perfect backdrop for the
Harold Warp Pioneer Village Invention Expo to be held June 5th
and 6th, 2010.
The Invention Expo will bring together inventors and future
inventors from small towns to large cities to display their newest
concepts, many conceived in garages, sheds and kitchens and
brought to life with dedication, commitment
and purpose. Each inventor will have a display booth within
the museum where they can showcase their newest concepts to
visitors and each other. The Invention Expo opens Saturday June
5th and runs through Sunday June 6th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Visitors will have the opportunity to personally meet and visit
with the inventors and see their working models demonstrated or
discuss their concepts and plans.
