Hays, Kansas Enjoy spending time in our community of
Hays. There are so many things to see,
do and experience Named the German
Capital of Kansas, the local heritage is shared
through special events like two Oktoberfest, tours
of the Volga German Haus and magnificent area
churches.
The “Wild West” is BIG in Hays and it’s celebrated
in a BIG way at the Wild West Festival (July 1-4,
2010), County Fair and Rodeos. Once the home of
Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill, Calamity Jane and
George Custer you’ll learn more about our frontier
history and it’s characters at the Ellis Co Historical
Museum and Old Fort Hays which opens a new
facelift this summer with new exhibits.
History and small town charm meet in the heart
of downtown Hays. The Chestnut Street District
features unique shopping, award winning brewery,
upscale dinning, night time entertainment and is
home to working artisans and art galleries.
From BIG to small we have it all. Make a BIG
splash at the Hays Aquatic Park or see BIG
dinosaurs at Sternberg Museum of Natural History
and the fascinating SuperCroc exhibit through
August 5th, 2010. And on the small side, just visit
Blue Sky Miniature Horse Farm where you’ll see
horses no bigger than a pet dog.
Enjoy a quiet summer evening watching our
semi-pro Larks baseball game or take a walk in
Frontier Park and catch a game of Frisbee golf. Plan
an afternoon of fishing on one of our outstanding
area fishing lakes or a game of golf on one of two
outstanding 18 hole golf courses. It’s a sportsmen’s
paradise.
Enjoy time in Hays….you’ll find we’re a
community with small town charm but we have
BIG time fun! |
