Reenactment Guild of America Gunfighters and Living Historians

Scurrying down the ninety five foot tunnel from Eva’s house to the barn, mounting the horses and riding unseen into the prairie with no one the wiser. Bob, Emmett and Grat Dalton make another escape from being captured. This could have been the scene in 1892 at the Dalton Gang Hideout. Eva Dalton Whipple lived in the small house on the hill from 1887 when it was built by her husband John until 1892 when the Whipples mysteriously disappeared from Meade. Eva’s brothers were the Dalton Brothers Gang who were train robbers and had a $5,000 bounty on them. The Dalton Gang Hideout is open year round for visitors to walk through the reconstructed tunnel to Eva’s small house and view artifacts in the Museum from the late 1800’s.

The Dalton Gang Hideout is also the site of Dalton Days Wild West Fest June 26th & 27tth 2010. The Hideout will once again be alive with gunfight groups and living historian of the Reenactment Guild of America. The RGA is the premier Old West Reenactment organization in America with members from Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado to name a few of the states represented. RGA is dedicated to portraying the Old West as time period correct as possible. There is the Dalton Escape Run, stick horse races and games for the kids, a parade, melodrama play and home made ice cream crank off. Chuck wagon breakfasts will be served both mornings and on Sunday morning Cowboy Church will be held with guest minister Barry Ward.
